she came with all kinds of cool stuff including a couple more than a dozen cutters and an original Atlas catalog no. M52 and a price sheet from August 1955 when the mill was originally purchased, i'm the second owner. My mill sold originally in 1955 for $466.70!! some pictures for the interested!

About the Atlas Horizontal Mill . . . the spindle is threaded 1x10 with an MT2 taper -- the same as later model Atlas/Craftsman 6" lathes. So chucks, faceplates, boring heads and milling cutter holders are readily available on eBay and from various vendors of new items. Clausing still sells many parts for the old Atlas/Craftsman machines.

Atlas built 12 models of horizontal mills, M1 through MHC. They first appeared in the 1941 catalog (probably printed late 1940) as the 16-speed (4-step spindle pulley) M1, MF and MH. In the 1943 catalogs, they are still called M1, MF and MH but are 12-speed (3-step pulley).

Yes, Atlas made a small benchtop horizontal, I had one over fifty years ago. Rotex (best known for their sheet metal working equipment) built both horizontal and vertical benchtop mills. I sold my father-in-law's very nice vertical Vertex last year for a pittance. They are knee mills. The vertical has a quill and tilt, no nod.
