Rutile (TiO2) has a titanium dioxide content of 93–96% but is difficult to find in natural ilmenite deposits [7]. Thereby, the present review focuses on the alluvial deposit, more precisely the ilmenite, and the extraction of titanium from it. Titanium metal production consumes a small proportion of total titanium reserves per year [7].
