I have found the most consistent source of Thorium to be Un'Goro Crater. There are 2 or 3 veins to be found inside the cave with the apes (north end). There are also 1 or 2 that can be found in the volcano area (center) including a rich thorium vein. There are also a few in the surrounding mountains (try north end and west border).

I find Un'Goro Crater is pretty good for Thorium. The main spawn points are at Fire Plume Ridge, Fungal Rock, and The Slithering Scar. There are also a few dotted around random places in the Crater, which you should find if you just run around for a bit. I haven't found any other very good places for Thorium, but if I do I'll report back here.

Total net was 4 crystals. Two were from the rich thorium nodes in the hives and 2 were from small thorium nodes outside the hives. Looks like the nerf bat was used big time here, or else I was just unlucky. Still a good place for thorium ore, dense stone, and skinning silithid chitins, but I will search elswhere for the arcane crystals.

How does the respawn system of ore work?
Silithus is best for rich thorium veins but does mean some running around in tunnels it's still the fastest place to get thorium. Untrue, actually. I've checked to see. In 1 trip around Silithus, I got 1 stack of ore, with no competition. In 1 trip around Un'Goro, (which took half as long,) I got 16 ores, and that was with competition.

Un'goro Crater is a insanely great place to farm thorium ore! One circuit gave me 5 stacks, yes, 5 stacks of thorium ore. The veins basically spawn almost instant, once I mined an rich thorium ore, started moving and a new vein popped on the minimap before I could get out of the scanners range.
